Ford delays some Mustang Mach-E orders over ‘Quality checks’

Just weeks after Tesla’s Electric vehicle department was criticized for quality issues by Ford EV lead Darren Palmer, it has been discovered by Electrek that Ford has postponed hundreds of new Mach-E deliveries due to additional quality checks. Some buyers have even stated that their deliveries were pushed back despite being already on the train to be delivered. While there was plenty of speculation, it was not made clear by Ford what the issues were that could’ve caused the delay, but it was reported that the delays could possibly last for over a month.

It was stated by Ford that the brand wanted to make sure they are producing the best quality Electric vehicles that their customers “Expect and deserve”.

While the delay could be due to unexpected problems, it could also be just a check to be sure that all the new Mach-E models are perfect.

So what exactly is the “Mach-E”?

The Mustang Mach-E, which is only available through pre-order, and was originally meant to be delivered in December. It is the first and largest upgrade to the traditional Mustang, and Ford’s first all-electric crossover.

Though it looks similar to the traditional “Mustang” on the outside, the Mach-E is completely different in performance. Its new features include a touchscreen, customizable lighting, a full sunroof, and more.

Darren Palmer states that the new Mustang Mach-E would attempt to avoid the production and manufacturing issues of Tesla’s EVs, such as stuck door handles, loose bumpers, and general quality malfunctions such as electrical problems. While this won’t guarantee that every Match-E is built well sans issues, it certainly proves that Ford wants to make a good first impression.

A strong introduction would not only ensure sales but could possibly lure potential customers of rival EV’s who are worried about performance and quality issues.

It is unclear when all the deliveries will arrive, but it is expected to be by the end of March.
