Bing has been active since 2009 and it was launched by the Microsoft Corporation. It replaced Microsoft’s previous search engine, “Live Search”. In 2011, Bing was able to surpass Yahoo in the market share and it was touted to be a big achievement back then. In the preceding years, Bing has been able to attract a lot of attention towards itself and was able to get noticed despite the immense competition from Google.
Same as Google, Bing has also come a long way starting off as a simple search engine. Generally, we use Bing to surf the web. Additionally, it has become a place where you could read the news and learn about history as well. Microsoft has updated Bing Search App on Android reflecting that complexity much better.
The highlight of this Android update is the personalized homepage where you have shortcuts to the topics that you are frequently searching for. It could be the weather forecast, what’s nearby, or something else. You will also witness to see dedicated icons for Microsoft tools such as OneDrive. Underneath there will be a list of news stories personalized as per your preferences. Above all these, Bing is a search engine and the search bar is available at the front and the center of the latest interface. Usual text and voice features are available and besides them, there is a functionality resembling Google Lens and it allows you to upload images in the attempt of finding something. One could use the app and scan the QR codes as well.
If you are not already using Bing, this latest feature of a personalized homepage won’t persuade you to switch to the search engine you are already using. But in case, if you are a longtime user of Bing you would love the change as you get access to all features in one place.
